Japy Freres Huge and Stunning Gilt Brass Cartel Wall Clock ~ Hunting.

A magnificent and rare gilded brass cartel clock, very finely detailed and in excellent condition. It is in the style of Black Forest carved wood examples, but is beautifully modelled in gilded brass. The original gilding remains which is in lovely bright and clean condition. It features a hunting dog to one side of the dial, a fox to the other, a wild boar below, and above the dial is a hunting trophy deer head with antlers.

A very large and stunning red Boulle work Rococo bracket clock, on its original bracket it is almost 4 feet in height. The red shell veneer is delicately inlaid with brass and mounted with fine ormolu.

The shape is the classic rococo key hole shape with glazed door to the front and glazed panels to the side, allowing the ormolu pendulum to be seen swinging within. inside the case, the rear door is also decorated with Boulle work and the floor of the case is decorated with a Trompe-l'œil effect.

A beautiful boudoir clock of Boulle work in the style of Louis XV. Ornate Brass is delicately inlaid into the red shell veneer and the case is mounted with finely modelled ormolu. The red shell veneer has mellowed to a lovely antique red-brown with plenty of character. An earlier antique French table clock, veneered in a beautifully figured shell veneer and mounted with finely modelled ormolu (gilded brass / bronze). The clock features a figure of cupid with his bow and quiver of arrows. It sits upon acanthus scroll feet and below the dial is a floral swag and a pair of birds - an allegory for love.
